This two-island country in the eastern Caribbean has 47,600 people, per the last census. It is the first English Caribbean colony. The French came later in 1625. Britain agreed to share the country with them. This caused a French and an English partition. It led to a deadly persecution of the Kalinago, the aboriginals. The French and British wars led to France giving the island to Britain. Though the French recaptured the colony, they returned it to the English under a treaty they had signed.

Basseterre is the capital. The official language is English. The country gained independence on September 19, 1983. The currency is the Caribbean dollar. It has beautiful beaches, mountains, and lush rainforests. They call it the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. This island relies on tourism for income. It’s a stunning place. In 1999, UNESCO designated a cultural center here, a World Heritage Site. If you decide to go here, do more due diligence to research the hotels and the specific sites you may want to visit. In fact, create your tour roadmap and calculate the cost. You must plan your trip ahead of time for you to enjoy it. Don’t try to see everything in one day. Don’t be in a hurry when you travel. Just disconnect from stress.
